If you are starting your own website, especially a blog-based website, the goal is to drive readers to the site. Maybe you have an advertising deal worked out where you get paid per click or perhaps you just have a want to get people to your blog because it represents a worthwhile cause or issue. Or, maybe you are just looking to get people there because what you have to say is funny and smart and you are hoping to be the Internet’s next big blogger. Still, no matter what your angle is it’s tough to make your blog visible among the millions of websites out there, especially when there are so many people skeptical of the content out there. So here is something to keep in mind that will help you drive traffic to your site:
If your site is a blog, then it’s most important to have an angle. You might be an interesting person and you might have a lot of witty or funny things to say but that won’t keep people coming back to your blog. Your blog cannot be about just living life and whatever comes up. Like all good writing you must have a point of view, or an angle and make that apparent to your readers. This means you might have to tell them that you are an out of work actor in Hollywood just trying to make it. This will give readers a reason to get back to your blog and will tell them instantly if your blog is something that interests them. People have a lot of choice on the net so they don’t want to have to figure your blog out. They want to be told what it is. If your blog has a point of view and an angle, you’ll get people to read it.
