The goal is driving traffic to your website. This is what you’ve built your website for. Even if you are using a system like Word Press and are just looking to get your advertising dollars up or if you are just hoping to get people to your site to see what you have to say and enjoy themselves there, it’s hard finding a way to make people pick you and your content, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Word of mouth is powerful and if you are diligent and make the best out of your place in the Internet you could be doubling and tripling your views to your page.
The best way, and the least annoying way to get people to your blog is to be a reader. This means doing more than going to a forum and just link bombing on the site. This involves being an active participant in the blog community. If you go to someone’s site where they have done an article on a new law that has come into effect and you have a blog posting that is similar to that, the best thing you can do is to leave a comment giving a brief idea of your opinion and then letting people know that you are writing on your site and it is similar to that and that they should check it out. This will cause a good dialogue between readers. The point is not to come off abrasive or confrontational. There is nothing that will turn readers off more than someone bashing someone else and then plugging their own site.
If you have something to say about a blog that is opposing them, do it in a respectful way and make sure you start a discussion and not a fight. That will make readers want to find out more about what you think.
