Also, take a careful look at what you need the software to really do. If you’re adding to the software you already have, you might not need as many functions as you would if you’re replacing the software you have with something new. Keep that in mind, as well. You’ll be a lot more likely to get what you need if you really know what you need before you go looking for it.
Of course, you may also find that there are features that you didn’t know you wanted or needed when you start looking for software packages. You don’t have to stick to what you decided on before you started your search – just don’t stray so far from the original plan that you end up with something that won’t do the job and/or that just costs way too much for what you planned to spend.
